In 2010 ExplorOcean introduced its newest gallery, Extraordinary People, where we embrace, celebrate and honor those who overcame adversity, challenged the elements, made thought-provoking discoveries and pushed the nautical envelope to the edge.
The first exhibition, ‘Living Dream’ – Nick the Scandone was a retrospective of a local hero, the late Paralympic gold medalist in sailing. Today you will find memorabilia of his 2008 trip to Beijing for the Paralympics, where he accomplished his lifelong goal, to win a gold medal!
Opening in April 2013 is our newest exhibition, Roz Savage – 5 Million Oar Strokes. The exhibit follows Roz’s journey from preparation to execution and how she overcame her own personal challenges. On display will be Roz’s 23-foot boat Sedna, along with many of the items that she took on her journey.
